It's common knowledge..
.. that I don’t age (I only get more wrinkles and grey hair and stuff, but äh..) and this is because I roam at night and if you find tea stains from a cup on the table in the morning, you’d know I have been there. But, if we drop that un-explicable phenomenon, what I noticed in the past year or so is that contrary to logic, I am looking better as I age. “Now, this can not be...

Ma dio!
Remember that moment in Lilo & Stitch when Stitch sees one of those simulator planes for kids infront of shops, thinks it’s a real flying machine and jumps inside only to find it stays grounded and only slightly rocking? Then he basically leans disappointed on one side producing a “bläääääh”-sound. That was how I am half of the day. And my chair is not even rocking.

mappeal: IN THE 19TH CENTURY, the paramount moral challenge was slavery. In the 20th century, it was totalitarianism. In this century, it is the brutality inflicted on so many women and girls around the globe: sex trafficking, acid attacks, bride burnings and mass rape. And.. Now it is emerging that male domination of society is also a risk factor; the reasons aren’t fully understood, but...

Maintenance mode
Just when I wanted to read that story about Levi’s selling their jeans on an installments basis in India, and The Financial Times site goes into maintenance mode. On a Saturday morning, over tea, mind you. No,no full text on RSS. Anyway, it is a new level of sick, this… about the jeans. They make it for no money and then Levi’s sell them back at $33, so generously, in the form of...

Random thoughts #111
There is no system of numbering, really. As usual. The reason I like Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam is in a way the same as why I like some minimal techno. Seriously. In a conventional sense, there would be a leading melody and supporting lines and rhythm. In this, there is a canopy of fuzzy sound and rhythm, and in it, the thin line of the melody. It is not apparent. Maybe this is why I like it. ...

Of demons and angels
We have a very hot weather in The Land of the Big River. Hot and humid. Makes one reluctant to do anything one should actually be doing, so I dug out something. It’s a very old story without a beginning and without an end: I didn’t believe I’ll make it this time either. And I heard myself say so. Then Mehabel, who was sitting all this time listening, broke in, like he does,...

And all you can eat
Yesterday I scooped up the last of some strawberry jam and left the jar next to the sink to be washed and disposed of. After a while a funny buzzing sound came from that direction and I noticed that a wasp has jumped inside happily munching jam. I decided that it might be better to carefully take the jar outside and leave it on the balcony table so that she can eat all she wants an leave when she...
